We welcome anyone who wants to try rowing. Tryouts for the team are held at the start of the fall and spring seasons. No experience necessary. Every current member of the team started as a beginner. We will teach you everything you need to know. The info meeting for Fall 2013 will be held Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. in Arts and Sciences room 308. Can't make it? Email Allison at email@example.com.
We have a fall season beginning when school starts and continuing through the first week in November, and a spring season beginning after spring break that runs until May. That's when we're on the water.
We condition from January to spring break indoors at the Rec. Conditioning includes erging (practicing on the rowing machines), weight training, running, ab workouts, team games and more!
Tryouts for the team are held at the start of each semester and generally include a week of learning and completion of a 3K piece on the rowing machines. All members are also required to pass a water safety test.
During fall and spring seasons we meet at parking lot WC6 and carpool to water practices. Varsity practices are held based on rowers' availability. New rowers' practices are held weekdays 5:00-8:00p.m. Additional practices are held at the coaches' discretion. Winter conditioning practices are held Monday-Friday 6:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at the Rec.
Rowing competitions are called regattas. (They're similar to track meets, except way more exciting.) We attend five regattas in the fall and five in the spring. We carpool and compete at regattas in St. Louis, Des Moines, Topeka, Wichita, Omaha and more!
We will be holding an info meeting for the 2013 fall season on September 4 in Arts and Science room 308. Check Facebook or our events calendar for updates. Can't make the meeting? Have questions? Email us at
